Autumn has arrived the Norfolk Coast, the leaves are turning burnt oranges and reds, there is a nip in the air and most goings-on have wound down here by the beach, Winter is definitely on its way. But.. just because the summer crowds have long gone, does not mean there isn't a fabulous array of things to do this Autumn and Winter here in Norfolk!
What's happening locally?
Fireworks
Hats on, out into the darkness, candy floss & a hot dog, a sparkle in your children's eyes... it can only be November 5th! Guy Fawkes Night, a time to get together around a bonfire, light up some sparklers and enjoy the show. We have a number of events locally for all your fireworks needs. Hunstanton Clifftop Fireworks Display, gates open from 5 pm and fees are helping local charities. Fawkes in the Walks gates open at 6 pm, this is Norfolks largest FREE display and bonfire, ideally located in Kings Lynn Town Centre.
Entertainment
We have some fantastic venues for music and entertainment here in Norfolk, here are just a few of the events taking place in the next few weeks. Returning for its 25 year anniversary celebration is The Circus of Horrors, for one night only at the Alive Corn Exchange in Kings Lynn on 5th November, it is a circus like no other and a show you simply can’t afford to miss! Also at the Alive Corn Exchange on November 23rd is their Comedy Club Night, four comedians from the touring circuit, in a relaxed cabaret style setting, live in King's Lynn
Pantos!
You can't think of Winter and not think of the annual Pantomine! The Princess Theatre in Hunstanton has the all time classic Aladdin from 4th December to 1st January. Kings Lynn has Beauty and the Beast on show at the Alive Corn Exchange from 8th December to 31st December... don't forget to LOOK BEHIND YOU!
Out in Nature
As the temperatures in Northern Europe drop, Holkham National Nature Reserve sees the arrival of tens of thousands of wildfowl, who choose to spend their winters on our salt marshes. Huge skeins of Pink-Footed Geese, massive flocks of Wigeon and Teal and bustling gaggles of Brent Geese provide spectacular viewing for birdwatchers, join a walking tour from 19th November to 17th December.
Want to get out but have no one to go with? Meetup is a great website for getting involved in events local to you and meeting new people. On November 12, Malcolm is hosting a Norfolk Coast Weekend, Seal Boat trip, Holkham Hall & Coastal Hike, this is a great way to get outside and enjoy all the best Norfolk has to offer.
The Coastal Path, The Peddars Way, The Weavers Way... the list goes on, if there is one thing Norfolk is great for, it's walking! We have miles upon miles of routes suitable for everyone and their dog, check out The National Trust Website to find out some of the wonderful walks local to you.
